Phillip's Animal Hospital     

Owner/Veterinarian -                     Thomas R. Homan, D.V.M 

Dr. Homan was born in Moorefield, WV, the son and grandson of veterinarians.  His father and grandfather both primarily practiced farm animal medicine in the South Branch Valley of the Potomac Highlands.  From his school days through his veterinary college  years, Dr. Homan rode on farm calls with his father while spending holidays and summers working on his grandparents' farm in Sugar Grove.  He says:

     "What I considered a good large-animal veterinarian was the ability not only to diagnose the problem, but to come up with the most effective and cheapest treatment to cure the problem and to give the farmer direct and honest answers.  These animals were a farmer's livelihood.  Unnecessary, costly diagnostic treatments or treating animals with little hope of recovery was taking food out of the farmer's mouth."

     "That's the way I was taught to practice medicine and that's the way I do it to this day.  I understand and appreciate that people are emotionally attached and love their pets, and I'll do whatever the owner wants; but I will tell him honestly and directly what all the options are, and what is the most practical course of action."

Dr. Homan currently resides in Charleston with his two children, Ben and Leah. Ben is a college freshmen and Leah  attends George Washington High School.

Phillip's Animal Hospital is a small and personal practice,  with a staff dedicated to caring for both, the patient and the client, following its history and traditions.
